Course Description

Learn how to create a successful agriculture business in Hawaii. Working with the Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation, students will explore careers in Agriculture and Environmental Sustainability. As a group, students will gain technical and professional skills needed in various agricultural, environmental and sustainability practices. In a session, students will also be working alongside staff from Patagonia in learning how socially responsible corporations partner with nonprofits.

This is also a great opportunity for students to get community service hours for NHS, or other programs.

At the end of this course, students will have the opportunity to present their business for feedback to leading agricultural professionals and local community leaders.

  • Understand how Hawai’i’s unique ability to provide a wide variety of agricultural goods and how this has historically impacted the world
  • Learn how to create a marketing plan for your product or service
  • Prototype agricultural practices by blending cutting edge technology and traditional practices 
  • Understand foundational financial practices related to agriculture businesses
  • Explore different career opportunities related to AgTech in Hawaii
