Pathway to Purpose

AgTech & Sustainability

Course Description

Learn how to create a successful agriculture business in Hawaii. Working with the Kōkua Hawaiʻi Foundation, students will explore careers in Agriculture and Environmental Sustainability. As a group, students will gain technical and professional skills needed in various agricultural, environmental and sustainability practices. In a session, students will also be working alongside staff from organizations like Patagonia in learning how socially responsible corporations partner with nonprofits. This course is a hybrid of on-site workdays at Kōkua Learning Farm on the North Shore of Oahu (twice a month) and virtual sessions (twice a month). Students will also receive a aquaponics kit, as part of the course, to track their technical skills in Ag Tech.

This is also a great opportunity for students to get community service hours for NHS, or other programs.

At the end of this course, students will have the opportunity to present their business for feedback to leading agricultural professionals and local community leaders.
